Reading Proficiency Action Steps
Action Step 1: Provide explicit instruction on active reading strategies and annotations for all texts in all subject areas.
Action Step 2: Develop and sustain school-wide vocabulary acquisition strategies that ensure explicit instruction, repeated exposure, and meaningful application of prioritized Tier III vocabulary within every unit of study across all subject areas.
Action Step 3: Strategically provide targeted intervention to students who are within the range of moving to “reading at/above grade level”.

Action Step 1: Formalize PLC systems, structures, and processes to strengthen teacher capacity in the prioritization of standards and identification of instructional strategies to best support student growth and achievement.
Action Step 2: Develop and sustain school-wide vocabulary acquisition strategies that ensure explicit instruction, repeated exposure, and meaningful application of prioritized Tier III vocabulary within every unit of study across all subject areas.
Action Step 3: Strengthen and increase school-wide use of multimodal resources to improve reading comprehension and support new staff in consistent implementation across all subject areas.

Action Step 2: Implement/increase instructional strategies that employ flexible, collaborative student learning teams to increase student understanding, communication, and critical thinking.
Action Step 3: PLC's will design and administer common formative and summative assessments to allow data to inform personalized learning activities for each student.
